Unit description  
This unit specifies the competencies required to demonstrate basic skills of electronics. It 
involves identification of electric circuits, electronic components, understand semi-conductor 
theory, identify and classify memories, apply number systems and identify emerging trends in 
electronics.

This course focuses on building a foundational understanding of computer hardware essentials, covering:

  • Core Components: In-depth study of the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and storage devices.
  • Power and Cooling: Overview of power supplies, cooling systems, and their importance.
  • Input/Output Devices: Understanding and connecting peripherals, ports, and expansion cards.
  • Operating System Setup: Introduction to OS installation and BIOS/UEFI configuration.
  • PC Assembly and Maintenance: Safe handling, assembly steps, and preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Troubleshooting Basics: Diagnostic tools and methods for common hardware issues.
